In fact, I'm pretty freaked-out. Here I was, thinking Man was a shoe-in for existence in the next millennia, and now I realize he'll be lucky to make it another ten years.

Something has got to be done, and I think affording Man all the protection that comes with Endangered status is a good place to start. Come on; Man has got to be at least as valuable as one of those weird kinds of coral or sea anemones or whatever.
